Catch your Breath

Yáʼátʼééh,  Hello

I have been here starting my day with a smile. I wake up with a positive outlook on my day.. Fixing my bed and self care routine. Having a place to feel the breeze on my face taking a deep breath of fresh air and an amazing place for meditation and prayers.  Journaling is also a big part of my day. Making a hot cup of tea and a sensible breakfast I can actually feel good about.  My morning is a part of my day that has to start with a calm, grateful and in a peaceful mindset.

I blog about my great-grandmother often. The only person I feel had a great vision on life.  At the time she had lived years and experienced so much. My great-grandmother had a vision to tell stories, what she had learned and had a voice for teachings. A wonderful woman who did not waste time on worry, complaints or dwelling on the bad. And we had a lot of bad around at the time.  She may have carried a lot on her shoulders but looking at her, she did not show any signs. My great-mother carried herself so confidently and a very independent.

I remember around this time of the year ( fall ) there are reservation fairs. She wanted to get dressed up and drenched with Sterling Silver and Turquoise Jewelry.  She wore a satin finish three tier dress a long sleeve velvet shirt with a collar and two buttons. She wore a cluster turquoise matching bracelets, matching cluster rings, a squash blossom necklace, nickel buttons and a turquoise brooch to center of shirt. She wore her hair in a small delicate Navajo Bun and two turquoise combs for her hair and topped with a bright colored sheer scarf to cover her head.  My great-grandmother was always meticulous when it came to her outfits.

A family member would drive her to the fairgrounds and she wanted to be let off and she would eat frybread have some mutton stew and have a Shasta Cola drink. There would be entertainment throughout the day. A Parade, Rodeo, PowWow, Song and Dance Events and a Carnival. She really enjoyed herself with no-one to worry about but herself. That's how I remember her.  She would talk to anyone and be very polite with people.

I think about her way of life. Early in the morning she would be standing outside before the sun comes up and she would be praying. That I can see is important today. It kept her mind clear of stress or anxiety. I have so respect for her. Very proud of myself that I had that much time with her. I learned plenty to have a peaceful living mindset. My daily routine comes from her.  I just was so stubborn and close minded that I did not see it clearly.  My oldest Daughter made it a point to show me what it is like to have a peaceful mind. Not to worry about people or things happening around me. Everything happens for a reason we all sometimes do not see in front of us.  She always came up behind me and told me to take a deep breath and to relax my shoulders. I thought that was the craziest thing. But I would and sure enough my shoulder would go down. My amazement would make me think of her when I was worried or stressing. I thank her for being there for me every time I needed her.

So in conclusion to my Blog, I just want to say we all need to "Catch our Breath" once in awhile. I promise it will make you feel so much better.

Thank you A'hééhé for reading this far.. Lots of Love and Blessings to you :)
