Sweet Hello...
I was about 6 years or 7 maybe. I spent a lot of time with my great grandmother. I remember her building a fire and cutting up meat and making a small dough just for us. Tortilla my great grandmother made were the best. I enjoyed her cooking. My grandmother was always gone doing her thing. So my great-grandmother was always home. She was a home body. She enjoyed being home. I remember her weaving. I would lay by her and read well look at Archie comic books. I would get lost in Riverdale and just hearing my great-grandmother pound on the loom. That was normal for me. I loved being home with her. She would talk about things or just tell me about old times. I hardly recall any of the conversations, but I know we talked. She did not speak English so I was always telling her jokes in Navajo. She enjoyed me carrying a conversation with her. She was very happy all the time. We would go and feed the baby goats or give them water and I would help her. I loved it when they would get scared and run out of the fence. That meant I could try and chase them to try and catch them. I had fun. It was more like playing for me but I was told to catch the little goat and drag it back in it's little fenced area. Sometimes we would herd them in the area. There were fields and neighbors who let her goats and sheep graze in their fields and I would go with her. She would take a little sack full goodies. She would make a sack lunch for us. I remember having tortillas, Vienna sausage, 2 cans of RC Cola and a can of peaches. It was the best when you were out in the sun and hungry. We would sit down under a tree watch the herd and have lunch. I miss her and those days. Things were so simple back them. People didn't expect much and it was okay. Everyone was content with their lives. And we would chase them to the nearby creek before we chased them home. I had so much to talk about. I would talk and talk. It was a very happy time for me. I would smell horrible though. But I didn't care, I was 6 years old. I would just hear it from uncles or my aunts. Pretty funny. Great-grand parents and grandparents are important. I hope you enjoy my little story I remember. Thank you for reading and love your feedback. Your support is very appreciated. Lots of Love and Blessings to you all..
